HTC 10 deserves to be the best of HTC

HTC used to ranked as the third largest phone manufacturer behind Apple and Samsung in 2011, when it held around 10 per cent of the global market share. Then because of poor business decisions, HTC slipped down on the market. HTC 10 was released with hope to bring the company back to top. And it did. HTC 10 is of the best phones at the moment.

1. Design
HTC 10 has a traditional look of the brand in general, though there are some changes, in comparison with HTC One M8 and One M9. The HTC 10 is made entirely of metal and sports what the company calls “chamfered edges” - an angled ridge running around its body. While this is far from a daring a change, it’s a perfectly pleasant one, and possibly designed to detract from the fact its body is probably much chunkier than the vast majority of other handsets on the market. HTC has even removed its brand logo on the back of the product to make it clean – a minimal change that makes a big difference. It almost matches the Galaxy S7 for size, though it’s marginally taller and noticeably weightier.

2. Screen
HTC phones are famous for great screens, and HTC 10 is not an exception. It's screen is regarded as one of the best released this year. It’s a lovely display to look at. Colors are punchy and bright, without being oversaturated, and they’re accurate too. The wide color gamut is great for watching video as it was originally intended and accurately editing snaps, making this a strong media machine.

HTC also takes advantage of the HTC 10 's screen by turning virtual keys on One M8, M9 into hard keys. As a result, “back”, “home”, “recent apps” have become physical keys, while the entire 5.2 " screen is used to display the content only.

3. Sound
Instead of 2 speakers on the front side, HTC 10 is equipped with 1 on the front side and 1 on the back side. Though this makes the sound less vivid than that of M8 and M9, users can satisfy with the audio quality of this product. HTC has developed a clever method of creating an individual audio profile to enhance sound through headphones, and there’s a definite difference when you toggle it on or off.

4. Cameras
HTC 10 is the first smartphone with optical image stabilization support for the front-facing camera. This helps you capture selfies with less blur. The rear camera module is similar to what we see in the Nexus 6P, but also has OIS. Thus, you will find solid low light performance and great true color capture. There is a bit of room for some software tweaks, but in the meantime you can still capture great photos. Some shots in bright sunlight had a tendency to come out overexposed, but generally pictures were bright, detailed and balanced. Pictures taken in RAW format for enhanced detail are particularly crisp, but as ever, take up a lot of storage.

5. Battery
Manufacturer claimed that the battery life is 2-day long, however, users can go only a full day of moderate to heavy typical usage on a single charge. Fortunately, HTC has also done away with the overheating issues that plagued the M9. While the metal body may become warm to the touch while downloading apps and under fairly intensive use, it doesn’t become half as hot as its predecessor.

6. Software
HTC has worked closely with Google to create a newly-refined Android, free from the unnecessary bloatware. The notifications shade, for example, is exactly what you’ll get on a Nexus 6P, while icons are simple and clean. It’s clutter-free, and closer to pure Android than in the past, coupled with latest software Marshmallow.
