Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is of the safest smartphones with the lowest SAR

According to PhoneAndroid, a French information technology media, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has the lowest SAR value among the most popular smartphones. SAR (specific absorption rate) is an indication that establishes the amount of radiation absorbed by humans while using a cell phone. Higher SAR indicates that the device is emitting more electromagnetic radiation. SAR values are expressed in units of watts per kilogram (W/kg) in either 1 g or 10 g of tissue. The lower the SAR value, the safer it is for humans.

Reported by the researchers, Galaxy S7 Edge has the SAR level of 0.264W/kg, which is known as the lowest so far. Rated right after it is Asus Zenfone 3, with the SAR value of 0.278W/kg. Meanwhile, the highest SAR values belong to Honor 8 - 1.5W/kg, Huawei P9 - 1.43W/kg and iPhone 7 - 1.38W/kg.

It’s good to know that apart from the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, a couple more Samsung Galaxy units make it to the top 10. In fact, three more Samsung Galaxy models have ranked in the top 10 safest smartphones list: the Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 at third, Samsung Galaxy S7 at sixth, and the Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 at 10th place. There have been no explanation as to why there is a significant difference in electromagnetic emissions between the Galaxy S7 Edge and the Galaxy S7 but since you’re paying a few more bucks for the Galaxy S7 Edge compared to the Galaxy S7, something more premium could be inside that “Edge-y” unit.

On the other hand, Sony and Apple have released several products which are ranked among the top 10 highest SAR. Although a lot of components really make up for how safe or how dangerous a smartphone can get (take the Note 7 as an example), it’s handy to take note of how Samsung is making sure they build their units such as the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge to standards that will benefit the consumer.
